Two Rivers students are gearing up for the Middle School Envirothon that will take place at Two Rivers on Saturday, May 19th.

The event is open to the public and runs from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. High school students who are competing at the CT Envirothon the following week at Topsmead State Park are encouraged to attend as well.

The event will involve students engaged in the following activities: using microscopes; handling and keying out skulls (moose, grizzly and black bears, mt. lion etc.); doing soil textural tests with their hands; identifying dead frozen birds while wearing gloves and using the Peterson Field Guide, and working at a long row of buckets with dozens of tree and shrub branches/twigs in them, etc.

Two Rivers alumni students will be assisting –including a star student from CREC AAE & certified naturalist, who will be running the soil section starting at 10am.
