Science Bowl Team

Congratulations to our outstanding and hard working students who participated in the Science Bowl Competition on February 24th.

Competing in a field of 32 teams from 24 schools, our top team battled through 10 rounds of competition and finished in the end at 5th place.

Captain Haritha Subramanian was outstanding and had been studying for many weeks to try and bring the championship trophy back home to our school.  Both games against Bedford were close matches.  Haritha is not finished with her academic competitions though, as she will be representing Two Rivers in the State Math Counts competition coming up in March.

Ved Jannu and Shrika Seshadri were our #2 and #3 students and strongly supporting Haritha were a force all day.  Jacob Kuczek was our #4 and Cameron Willis our #5, filling in for Sophia Murrihy who could not attend Saturday.  The schools they beat, in order are: Mansfield;Cloonan (Stamford); Suffield;  East Ridge (Ridgefield); Smith (Glastonbury); Pomfret Academy; Ashford, and Turn of River (also Stamford).  Our first match and last match were close losses to Bedford Middle from Westport.

Strong performances came from our second team, composed of Grant Weaver, Kurt McKinney, Mehana Nagurur, Ola Taha and Gauri Karajagi.

As of this moment, next year's team looks bright with possibilities. Some of these students have been putting in up to two hours of extra curricular study every night or weekend day for the last several weeks.  These are amazing kids who love learning for learnings sake.  We are lucky to have these role models in our building and congratulate them on their success!
